Salzburg's Getreidegasse is an exclusive shopping street as well as one of the main tourist attractions. In Getreidegasse 9, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born there on January 27th 1756.
During the annual festival, the "Salzburger Festspiele" Hugo von Hofmannsthal' s "Everyman" ("Jedermann"), a play about the life and death of a rich man, is performed in front of the Cathedral.
